Big Eyed Beauty

Very stylised 70's doll, with a floppy body - no joints. Sarah made this doll for her best friend Fran, who has recently returned it to us, for my daughters (not to play with!). I think, but can't be sure, that this dolls face has suffered some fading or discolouration... I can't work out if orginally the doll had a darker painted face which has faded or a white unpainted face which has been tainted by oil from the paint used. Whatever may have happened...she is still a beautiful doll.

I wonder if I had a doll made by Sarah? The face of this one certainly triggered a memory. Did Granny Winnie have one as well? Again, I seem to remember the beautiful painted face and wool hair. I shall have to ask my parents next time I see them and check in the attic (where all my childhood friends now reside!).

She liked doing those big eyes!
Do have a look in your attic, would be great to see if you have one. If Gran had one, mum will have taken it back when she died...so it might be in the otterman at David's, along with a few other dolls. I'm hoping he'll send me photos soon.
